Czech Film Posters 1931–1948: Selection of Narrow Formats
Price: 100 Kč
The catalogue presents a comprehensive range of more than three hundred film posters from the extensive collection of the City of Prague Museum. The book informs about the film poster classical form, referred to as ‘noodle’ that became widespread after the first sound films appeared in the early 1930s. Their popularity was further increased by the new technology of cheap offset printing. The combination of several images or figures complemented by large areas of striking colours was the typical feature of these posters. Although the film critics back then did not regard these film posters as art, they were excellent promotional products. Nowadays, we can fully admire their magic and certain naivety.
