Tiles from the Pottery Workshop of Adam Špaček (1531–1572) in the New Town of Prague
An outcome of author’s extensive research, the book presents a comprehensive evaluation of one of the most remarkable collections of the Renaissance tiles in the Czech Republic and Europe. The collection’s uniqueness is not only evidenced by the number of finds (nearly 30 thousand pieces), but mainly by the fortunate coincidence that attributed it to a concrete producer. This singular collection provided extensive information about the pottery workshop operation, the production technology of the Renaissance tiles, their décors, and the cultural and historical contexts. The catalogue of finds extensively documents the entire collection and also includes many photographs of analogues.
